Bath Quays £21 Million Regeneration Project with BAM

We are underway with our latest project with BAM Construct UK, helping with the construction of the Bath South Quays scheme on the bank of the River Avon, in the beautiful and historic city of Bath, Somerset. 

Bath South Quays is £21.5 million development that runs alongside the River Avon that is set to be completed in 2021. It is part of a wider regeneration scheme helping to boost the business district of Bath and which spans the north and south banks of the River Avon.

The scheme has been part-funded by the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership through the Local Growth Fund, administered by the West of England Combined Authority.

The site will consist of a new office building, No.1 Bath Quays, alongside a second phase (Bath Quays 2) and the refurbished Newark Works. 

A 60m long steel bridge has been installed over the River Avon for cyclist and pedestrians that will connect to a sister development, Bath Quays North, provide easy access into the city centre from the south of the river. 

 

 

The bridge was designed by Paris-based engineering and architectural consultancy Marc Mimram after winning an international design competition commissioned by the council in 2015 and securing the largest number of votes in a public poll.

No.1 Bath Quays, a 5-storey, concrete framed office block clad in Bath stone is the first new office block to be built in Bath for 25 years. It will provide 45,000ft2 of Grade A office space spanning over 5 open plan floors, along with storage for more than 100 bikes and secure parking. The accommodation has been designed to be flexible with the ability to subdivide floors in accordance with the occupier’s requirements

Bath’s UNESCO World Heritage status has given the development a number of challenges that had to be overcome. The Roman spa-town, famed for its beautiful Roman baths at the centre is fed by natural thermal springs that rise under pressure – groundworks could impact this natural system so minimising any risk of damage was paramount. Listed buildings, heritage structures along with working beside a river all added to a complex planning phase.

We currently have a specialist CSCS certified cleaning team consisting of construction cleaners, windows cleaners and SSSTS supervisors on the ground at the site, assisting BAM with any construction cleaning requirements that arise.

Later, this can be supplemented with additional cleans to ensure the work is finished to exceptional standards, as expected in such a project.
