University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) upgrades have come a long way since we begin supplying cleaning services at the Bristol hospital construction site, over a year ago.
We have recently completed works for John Perkins Construction, a Bristol-based award-winning building contractor – winning building contractor of the year at the Construction Awards of Excellence 2020.
Our contracted works at the central Bristol hospital, just off St Michaels Hill, involved the construction cleaning after new hospital wards were upgraded – part of major construction works, which is still ongoing.
Our specialist team of CSCS cleaners were formed to carry out the construction cleaning at the site, over several weeks.
Our experienced CSCS cleaners in Bristol, who were tasked to work at the John Perkins site, had to follow very strict health & safety protocols.
Safety is paramount for all construction-related works, due to the increase in health and safety concerns that can arise.
Our experienced CSCS cleaning team were working during the Covid lockdown – as essential workers. During these times additional safety measures were put in place. Working in a hospital further adds to the health & safety concerns for not only our staff, but also everyone who works, is a patient, or is visiting the hospital.
The hospital is such a critical piece of infrastructure for the community and Bristol as a whole. As you can probably understand, these works were more than essential, and have been needed for quite some time. Now, with the Coronavirus pandemic and its effects on public health, the need to improve overall health services throughout the region, cannot wait any longer.
This estate modernisation program, worth upon to £100m, will become a huge asset for not only Bristol but also the wider communities who will, in no doubt, gratefully utilise the new patient facilities.
The new hospital development, once opened, will become home to several facilities including those for haematology, cancer and oncology, a cardiology research unit. Contractors have been busy on-site constructing a new Cath Lab facility, which includes extending the Trust’s cardiology ward capacity with extensions to two existing wards.
We have been involved in the construction hospitals throughout the region. One of our previous assignments was for Bam Construct UK, in which we were supporting them in the construction of the NHS Nightingale Hospital in Exeter, back when the Coronavirus pandemic began.
These new upgrades, at the NHS Bristol Hospital, will become be a huge asset for the community and Bristol. We are proud to have supported John Perkins with such as important development and we are ready to support them moving forward in any way we can.
