Cleaning the UK Hydrographic Office, Taunton

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) collects and supplies hydrographic and geospatial data for the Royal Navy and merchant shipping, to protect lives at sea.

Working with other national hydrographic offices, they set and raise global standards of hydrography, cartography and navigation.

The UKHO is a trading fund of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and is located in a brand new building in Taunton, Somerset with a workforce of approximately 900 staff.

Simply Cleaning were delighted to win the cleaning contract to get the building prepared ready for its opening date.  

We provided them with full builders clean, a full reclean and sparkle clean making it spotless for the staff to come in. It was a huge project, with huge amounts of glass to clean using scaffold towers, cherry pickers, and scissor lifts. 

We encountered unexpected problems, especially with the protection on the outside glass.  As 2018 had been such a hot summer the glass protection material had literally cooked onto the glass and had to be very gently but thoroughly removed.  

Because of all the high levels within the building it was a challenging project.  But one we are extremely proud to have been part of.
